Anisa Mary

And for those of you who have been asking how is our little Congolese girl doing, here's a recent shot. She's put on so much weight that we can hardly recognize her. She's happy and brings so much joy into our lives.
The Lord is using her to touch many hearts, and we've heard many comments from the people here, saying that now they know for sure that we truly love their people. Isn't that sweet?

We also visited the orphanage where she came from, and did our Christmas program for the 100 orphans that live there just before Christmas. They had a lot of fun and one of them joined us and played the bongos during the songs. Fun! We were able to donate a few sacks of food to the orphanage, for which they were very thankful. Candle Light Service for a Happy New Year 2009

It is our Family tradition to hold, on New Year's Eve, what we call a "Candle Light Service." We each prepare to share with everyone present what are the things we are most thankful for that happened to us during the past year, as well as our prayer requests for the New Year, what we would like the Lord to do in our lives. We usually also claim a verse we would like to stand on during the coming year.
For the occasion, we invited all of our Active Members to join us. It was a precious time to start the New Year in this way, praising and praying together, in anticipation of all the Lord has in store for us in the year to come. May He help us to be vessels of His love to all those we will meet as we rededicate our lives to Him.
May you have a very fruitful and fulfilling New Year, rising above the difficulties that surround you, and bringing hope and life to many. Thank you once again for all of your help, support and prayers, without which our work in the Congo would not be possible. We feel honored to have such generous friends and partners in Christ, and know that, in helping to further God's work, you are investing where it really counts, and where God will repay with greater dividends you can even imagine, both in spiritual riches and in the assurance that you are in His loving care. We look forward to another year of partnership with you. May God bless you!

Christmas in Kinshasa

We had a wonderful Christmas, because we were able to share it with many needy children who so appreciated everything we brought them. Many souls were saved as well, and hearts were brightened.
We had the special blessing of having the help of our Active Member, Fisca, who spend 3 weeks with us and helped to drive high and low, witness, distribute food, pray for healing, win souls, and much more, getting full-fledged missionary training in the process. We love you, dear Fisca!

Christmas Day at the General Hospital

When we prayed on how to spend Christmas, the Lord told us it would make Him very happy if we were to spend it with children who are in the poorest hospital in town, and tell them that Jesus has not forgotten them. So we did! We put together a little program, which included showing them a Treasure Attic video which they thoroughly enjoyed, story telling, coloring, dressing up and acting out the Christmas story, and having a snack of juice and candy that people had donated for the occasion. We were also able to pray for their healing and salvation.

Christmas with our 70 orphans in Kikimi

We had a beautiful time with our children in Kikimi. Thanks to dear Marco who loaned us his car, we were able to bring all the extra food and utensils needed to cook a meal for all 70 children. The kids had a fun time with all the activities while waiting for the food to be ready. Enjoy some of the pics.

Thanks to the extra donations of food we received, we were able to make about the double amount of food packages we usually give the orphans. Thank you so much, all of you dear donors, for your sacrifice in sharing and giving. We know the Lord will bless and reward you for it and see that you never lack as you continue to share with those in need. And a big hand to Mme Colon and her two children who spent the whole day with us and were a tremendous help in packaging and distributing all the food. We couldn't have done it without their help. Mme Colon's daughter had just landed in Kinshasa for the first time the previous day. God bless her for jumping right in!

Thanks to a sweet Portuguese lady who lives in Kinshasa, we were able to serve fruit juice to all the children. At first, they were hesitant to drink it as many of them had never had juice before.

Dear Madlen and Florence spent hours cooking for all 70 children. We had to bring charcoals stoves, pots, plates and tons of water with us to be able to cook this meal, besides all the ingredients. In Kikimi village, people usually walk for 3 hours to go and fetch water.

A true mouthful!

70 plates of food!

"Yummy, yummy!"

Just to give you an idea of the amount of food we had to buy to feed all these children, one of our friends here loaned us his truck.

Christmas with our orphans in Kisenso

Our 30 orphans in Kisenso happily participated in the singing, coloring, story telling and flannelgraph, and ended up performing the Christmas skit for the neighborhood kids who had conglomerated at the SABEC center that day, curious as to what was happening. This way, many children got the witness!

We were able to give each child 2 kgs of rice, 1 kg of beans, 1 kg of maize flour, tomatoe paste, dried fish, salt, sardines, biscuits, juice, and a cupcake.

Thanks to a lot of extra food donations from our friends here in Kinshasa, we were able to make the double amount of food packages we normally serve the kids, including serving them juice and cake, which they were so thankful for. Thank you so much Jean-Emile, Sofia, Andy, and many others! We couldn't have done it without your generous help.

Cheering up kids at Nganda Hospital

About mid-december, we visited the Nganda hospital in our neigborhood and did our little Christmas program for the outpatients children, who were very happy for the entertainment.
